Semi Unit Crash:
At approximately 12:44 PM, Deputies, the Brodhead Fire Department, and Brodhead EMS responded to the W2100 block of County Highway SS, in the Town of Decatur, for a report of a single semi unit crash with injuries. Investigation revealed that Jeffrey M. Brewer, 61 of Evansville, WI, was operating a semi-tractor that was hauling a tank of liquid manure. Brewer was traveling southbound on County Highway SS and was negotiating a curve in the roadway. At this time, the semi unit exited the roadway and entered the south ditch. The semi unit then overturned and came to a rest. As a result of the crash, approximately 5,500 gallons of liquid manure spilled from the tank. The semi-tractor sustained severe damage and the airbags did not deploy. The trailer also sustained damage. Brewer sustained minor injuries in the crash and he reported that he was wearing his seatbelt. The semi-tractor was towed from the scene and the trailer was removed by the owner.
This portion of County Highway SS was closed for approximately 2 ½ hours due to the crash.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources assisted Deputies at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
