The following incident occurred on Sunday, October 3, 2021:
Motorcycle Crash / OWI 4th Offense:
At approximately 12:21 a.m., Deputies, Green County EMS, and the Brodhead Fire Department responded to the intersection of STH 81, STH 11, and CTH GG in the Town of Spring Grove for a report of a single motorcycle crash with injuries. Investigation revealed that Steven C. Mitchell, 26, Beloit, WI, was operating a motorcycle and was traveling westbound on STH 81 approaching the intersection of STH 11 and CTH GG. Mitchell then failed to stop at the Stop Sign at the intersection. Mitchell’s motorcycle then continued through the intersection and entered the ditch. Mitchell was then ejected from the motorcycle. The motorcycle then came to a rest. Mitchell was not wearing a helmet and sustained serious injuries in the crash. Mitchell was transported to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room by Green County EMS. The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Investigation resulted in Mitchell being arrested for Operate While under the Influence (alcohol) 4th Offense. Mitchell was cited for Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Failure to Maintain Control of Vehicle, Operate a Motorcycle with a Valid License, Operate after Revocation, Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device, Display False Registration, and Non-Registration of a Vehicle. Mitchell was released pending a mandatory court appearance.
The Brodhead Police Department assisted Deputies at the crash scene.
