All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incidents occurred on Thursday, October 08, 2021:
Motor Vehicle Crash, Operating While Under the Influence Arrest –
At approximately 12:13 AM, Deputies, the Brodhead Police Department, and Brodhead EMS responded to the W700 block of Decatur Rd., Town of Decatur, for a one vehicle crash that struck a telephone pole. The telephone pole was broken at the base and was laying in the west ditch with powerlines down.
Investigation revealed that the driver, John W. Schluesche, 23 of Monroe, was traveling west on Decatur Rd. when he failed to negotiate a right curve. John exited the roadway and entered the west ditch, striking a telephone pole. The homes in the immediate area lost power due to this. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and there was full airbag deployment. Neither John, nor his passenger reported any injuries and both reported wearing their seatbelts. John's passenger was transported by Brodhead EMS for evaluation.
After further investigation, John was arrested For Operating While Under the Influence of Alcohol – 2nd Offense and for Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device. John was also issued citations for Failure to Maintain Control of his vehicle, Operating After Revocation Due to Alcohol and for Operating While Under the Influence. John was transported to the Green County Jail where he was held pending court or posting of his bond.
Alliant Energy assisted at the scene and Don’s towing removed the vehicle.
Motor Vehicle Crash With Injury –
At approximately 4:42 PM, Deputies, the New Glarus Police Department, Blanchardville EMS and the Blanchardville Fire Department responded to the area of W8800 State Highway 39 for a report of a two-vehicle accident with injury.
Investigation revealed that a west bound vehicle, driven by Mariana J. Tejeda, 17 of Madison, was attempting to turn left in to a driveway. Mariana attempted to turn in to the driveway and was struck by an east bound vehicle, driven by Sarah A. Long-Duffy, 32 of Blanchardville. Mariana reported wearing her seatbelt and was not injured. Her vehicle had airbag deployment and was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
Sarah reported wearing her seatbelt and sustained minor injuries that were treated at the scene. Sarah’s vehicle also had airbag deployment and was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
