2021 Sheriff's Department Press Releases Posted on November 28, 2021

The following incidents occurred on Saturday, November 27th, 2021:

Accident-Property Damage:

At approximately 8:03 AM, Deputies responded to the W4900 block of State Highway 59, Town of Sylvester for a vehicle that had slid into the ditch.

The driver, Andrew Stietz, 32, of Brooklyn, reported traveling westbound on State Highway 59 when his vehicle slid into the ditch due to icy road conditions. Stietz was uninjured, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. The vehicle sustained minor damages and was legally parked to be moved at a later time.

Accident-Property Damage:

At approximately 8:32 AM, Deputies responded to the W7600 block of State Highway 81, Town of Jordan, for a roll over crash.

The driver, Thomas Salzweidel, 51, of Monroe, reported traveling eastbound on State Highway 81 when he reported losing control of his vehicle due to the icy road conditions. The vehicle entered the South ditch and rolled over. Salzweidel reported no injuries, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

Accident-Property Damage:

At approximately 8:33 AM, Deputies responded to the intersection of State Highway 81 and County Highway N, Town of Monroe, for a vehicle crash.

The driver Isabelle Zimmerman, 16, of New Glarus, reported traveling southbound on County Highway N when she proceeded to apply the brakes as she approached a stop sign. Due to icy road conditions Zimmerman’s vehicle slid across the roadway striking a curb and traffic sign. Zimmerman reported no injuries, reported wearing her seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was legally parked to be removed at a later time.

Accident-Property Damage:

At approximately 8:34 AM, Deputies responded to the W6800 block of State Highway 11, Town of Clarno, for a report of a two vehicle accident.

Investigations found that Tyler Kartman, 30, of Janesville, was westbound when he lost control of his vehicle due to icy road conditions. Kartman’s vehicle slid sideways in the roadway. Another westbound vehicle driven by Brett Broge, 32, of Monroe was unable to avoid Kartman’s vehicle and struck the rear of Kartman’s vehicle. 

Kartman, Broge, and Broge’s juvenile passenger denied injuries, all reported wearing seatbelts, and neither vehicle’s airbags deployed. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were able to be driven from the scene. 

Accident-Property Damage:

At approximately 8:55 AM, Deputies responded to the W4800 block of State Highway 59, Town of Sylvester, for a report of a roll over crash.

The driver, Timothy Zietz, 28, of Fitchburg, was traveling westbound when he lost control of his vehicle due to icy road conditions. The vehicle entered the South ditch where it rolled onto its roof. Zietz denied injury, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. Zietz’s vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.
 

Accident- Property Damage:

At approximately 9:32 AM, Deputies responded to the W4800 block of State Highway 59, Town of Sylvester, for a report of a vehicle that slid into the ditch.

The driver David Gurns, 61, of Albany, was traveling westbound when he observed several vehicles in the ditch. Gurns applied his brakes and his vehicle slid into the South ditch, due to icy road conditions. Gurns reported no injuries, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. Gurns’ vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

Accident-Property Damage:

At approximately 10:21 AM, Deputies responded to the N4600 block of County Highway J, Town of Monroe, for a roll over crash.

The driver, Chevy Hughes, 19, of Blanchardville, was southbound when he lost control of his vehicle due to icy road conditions. Hughes vehicle entered the West ditch where it overturned onto its roof. Hughes denied injury, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. Hughes vehicle sustained severe damages and was legally parked to be removed at a later time.

Accident- Personal Injury:

At approximately 7:06 PM, Deputies along with Officers from the Monroe Police Department, Browntown First Response, and Green County EMS, responded to the W8400 block of State Highway 81, Town of Jordan, for a vehicle crash.

The driver, Dale Amacher, 60, of Monroe, was eastbound on State Highway 81, when his vehicle left the roadway, striking a traffic sign, and culvert. Amacher sustained injuries as a result of the crash. Amacher was not wearing his seatbelt and the vehicle’s airbags deployed. Amacher was transported by Green County EMS for further medical treatment. 

Amacher’s vehicle sustained severe damages and was towed from the scene.

Amacher was cited for Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control.
