Motor Vehicle Crash - Property Damage

At 6:49 AM, Deputies responded to the intersection of CTH S & Town Center Rd., in the Town of Jefferson, for a reported vehicle versus school bus crash.  The investigation found that the driver of the school bus, Julie W. Jones, 68, of Juda, was traveling south on CTH S and attempted to turn west onto Town Center Rd., but slid past it due to ice covered roads.  Jones then began reversing, at which time a vehicle traveling southbound on CTH S, driven by Veronica J. Blum, 31, of Belvidere (IL) failed to slow down due to the road conditions and side swiped the school bus.  Jones and Blum advised they were uninjured and wearing their seatbelts.  Blum’s vehicle sustained functional damage, with no airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene.  The school bus sustained functional damage, with no airbag deployment, and was driven from the scene.
