At 5:14 PM the Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center received a call reporting an aircraft crash in the area of the W4600 block of State Hwy 59, Town of Sylvester. The area of the reported aircraft crash is a gravel quarry on the northside of State Hwy 59 immediately adjacent to the Monroe Municipal Airport.
The communications center immediately alerted emergency responders. A Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on scene and reported a large fire with construction equipment on fire in the quarry along with a large debris field from the aircraft. Monroe Rural Fire Department, Juda Fire Department, and Green County EMS responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished by the fire departments. Emergency personnel located two individuals deceased on scene. At this time their identities are unknown. NTSB and FAA will be investigating the aircraft crash and are currently enroute to the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office remains involved in the investigation and is maintaining scene security. No further information is available at this time.
