2024 Sheriff's Department Press Releases Posted on October 26, 2024

The following events occurred on October 25, 2024:

All person’s arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

 

Motor Vehicle Crash – Personal Injury

 

At 6:36 AM, Deputies, along with Brooklyn FD and Brooklyn EMS, responded to the intersection of STH 104 & Amidon Rd., in the Town of Brooklyn, for a two-vehicle crash with injury.  The investigation found that Riaan P. Fourie, 30, of Evansville, was traveling northbound and attempting to turn westbound onto Amidon Rd. when Anne M. Marchello, 81, of Westfield, was traveling southbound and collided with Fourie.  Marchello advised she was wearing her seatbelt and sustained non-life threatening injury.  Her vehicle sustained disabling damage, with airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene.  Fourie advised he was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.  His vehicle sustained disabling damage, with airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene.  Fourie was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way Causing Injury and released pending court.  

 

 

Motor Vehicle Crash – Property Damage

 

At 1:45 PM, Deputies responded to the intersection of STH 104 & St. John Rd., in the Town of Decatur, for a two-vehicle crash without injury.  The investigation found that Ricky P. Phillips, 32, of South Wayne, was traveling northbound and attempted to turn westbound onto St. John Rd.   While turning, Phillips was struck by Cade R. Walker, 21, of Brodhead, who was traveling southbound on STH 104.  Phillips and Walker advised they were both wearing their seatbelts and were uninjured.   Phillips’ vehicle sustained functional damage, with no airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene.   Walker’s vehicle sustained functional damage, with no airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene.  Phillips was cited for Failure to Yield while Making a Left Turn and released pending court.
