On Sunday, September 29th at 2:02 PM the Green County Sheriff’s Office - Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle crash on State Hwy 81 and County Hwy T, just south of the City of Brodhead.  Brodhead Fire Department and Brodhead EMS responded to the scene.  Sheriff’s deputies were assisted on scene by Brodhead Police and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.  

Preliminary investigation determined a vehicle was southbound on County Hwy T, traveled through the intersection at State Hwy 81 and County Hwy T and was struck by an SUV traveling westbound on State Hwy 81.  The vehicle was driven by a 23 year old man from Lena, IL. The SUV was driven by a 47 year old female from Monroe, WI.  The vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with the SUV.   

Brodhead Fire Department extricated the driver of the vehicle.  The driver was pronounced deceased on scene.  The driver’s name is being withheld at this time. The vehicle sustained severe disabling damage and was towed from the scene.  The airbags did deploy in the vehicle, the driver was wearing his seatbelt.   

The operator of the SUV was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. She was wearing her seatbelt and the airbags deployed. The SUV sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.  This is Green County’s third traffic fatality of 2024.
