MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH-FATAL / Saturday, October 21, 2023:

 At 11:11 p.m., The Green County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle crash in the W500 block of Stateline Road, Town of Spring Grove. Deputies along with Brodhead Fire Department, Brodhead EMS, and UW MedFlight were dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigation revealed that a Purple 1997 Chrysler Cirrus with one occupant was traveling northbound on Best Road (IL) and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Best Road and Stateline Road.  This vehicle then collided with an embankment on the northside of Stateline Road. Following the collision with the embankment, the vehicle became airborne and entered a field where it overturned numerous times before coming to rest and combusting in flames. The vehicle sustained severe disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Due to the extent of the damage, airbag deployment and restraint use are unknown. The operator of the vehicle sustained life threatening injuries and was transported by medical helicopter for treatment. 

The driver succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, October 22, 2023. The driver has been identified as ADAM P. BUCKLER, 29, of Davis, IL. The roadway remained closed for approximately 2 hours. No additional information will be released at this time.  

The crash, which is Green County's fifth traffic fatality of 2023, remains under investigation.
