On 10/2/23 at 5:42 AM, Deputies, Brodhead Police, Juda Fire, and Green County EMS responded to a two-vehicle crash in the W1300 block of STH 11, in the Town of Spring Grove. The investigation revealed that Lazaro Martinez Marcial, age 22 of Freeport, was operating a vehicle north on CTH G when he failed to stop at the intersection at STH 11. The vehicle went through the intersection and into a private driveway. The vehicle collided with an unoccupied vehicle parked in the driveway.
Lazaro reported wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor facial injuries in the crash but refused treatment at the scene. Lazaro's white 2018 Ford Escape sustained disabling damage to the front and multiple airbags deployed. The damaged Ford was towed from the scene. The parked Chevrolet Express G3500 van sustained disabling damage to the right side; there was no airbag deployment. The damaged van was towed from the scene.
Following the investigation, Lazaro was arrested for operating while under the influence. Lazaro was also cited for operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration, failure to maintain control, operating without a license, non-registration of auto, and no insurance. Lazaro was released to a responsible party pending a mandatory court appearance.

On 10/01/2023 at 7:01 PM deputies and BHPD responded to the Town of Decatur for a disturbance. The investigation resulted in Shawn M. Anderson, 52, Brodhead, being arrested for Battery, Suffocation/strangulation, and false imprisonment. Additionally, Maggie M. Salzwedel, 37, of Brodhead was arrested for Misdemeanor bail jumping, and Disorderly conduct.
